Frequently Asked Questions

We do not prepare hot meals at PlayDates. For a nominal fee, healthy snacks and fruit juices will be provided. We also have chilled water fountains in the play area.

You may bring food that can be eaten cold or at room temperature. PlayDates is not licensed to heat or re-heat food. The Director is required to check food to ensure no peanut or shellfish products are brought into the facility. We have tables around the center at which the children can eat. If you have a younger child, we will assign a staff member to assist or feed them.

We do change diapers, although we require that your child arrive with a clean one. We ask that you provide a diaper bag at the time of check-in. We do keep extra diapers on hand for emergencies, but each diaper provided by PlayDates will result in an additional $2 charge. We also ask that you bring a change of clothing in case of accidents.

We have mats available to be used in the “quiet area” for children that fall asleep or just want to lie down.

We only use environmentally safe cleaning products at PlayDates. The entire center is cleaned every evening and during slow times throughout the day. Anti-bacterial hand gels are not allowed in the facility, they may pose a health hazard if a young child comes in contact and considered “hazardous materials” by the State licensing agency. We do have alcohol-free, hypo-allergenic baby wipes throughout the play area. We encourage the children to wash their hands between each activity.

Security is the main priority at PlayDates. We have security cameras that are monitored and recording at all times. Photo identification will be required in all instances to pick up children in our care. In the event of an emergency, if the parent is unavailable, we will contact the “emergency backup” adult listed on your child’s information card. We have controlled access entries and use video cameras and/or visual recognition to identify individuals seeking entrance to the center. Only staff members are allowed in the play areas.

All staff members are required to go through extensive background checks and have first aid and CPR certifications to ensure the safety of the children.

Since we are a Drop In Early Learning Center, reservations are not required. We do have a limit of 32 children. To guarantee your child a spot, you may call us at 769-6300.

We are very seldom closed, except on major and especially family-oriented holidays. Closing schedules will be posted at the center and on our website to give you ample time to make any other arrangements.

Registration is free at PlayDates.

We do not bill, payment is due at the time of check-out. We accept cash or credit cards. Personal checks are not accepted, unless special arrangements have been made with management in advance.

The fee charged is $10 per hour for infants or $8 per hour for the first child and an additional $4 per hour for additional siblings.

For the sake of your child, our staff members, and other children attending our facility, please send only healthy children to PlayDates. Please use the following health guidelines before sending a child to PlayDates:

     Temperature of 100.6 or higher
     Nausea/vomiting
     Diarrhea
Red, watery eyes with yellow or cloudy drainage
     Undiagnosed rash
     Severe sore throat
Confirmed/Suspected contagious disease (measles, chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye, etc)
Phlegm-producing cough, yellow or green-colored nasal discharge

Your child should not have experienced any of these symptoms for at least 24 before coming to our facility. PlayDates must reserve the right to refuse entry or discharge a child early that exhibits any of the above symptoms. If a child does fall ill while in care, they will be separated from the other children and cared for by a staff member. Parents will be notified to pick up the child immediately.

Because we operate on a Drop In basis, only management is allowed to administer medication, and then only during life saving instances, such as Inhalers or Epi Pens. Parents must provide written doctors orders and any possible side effects of the medication.

In the event that a parent fails to pick up their child by the center’s closing time, or by the previously agreed-upon time (when the parent has been notified that the license maximum enrollment may be exceeded if the child is not timely picked up), a late charge of $2 for every minute after the closing/agreed time will be assessed. At some point after closing, if we have not heard from the parent and unable to contact any person listed on the information card, we will notify authorities.

We provide light blankets, but do encourage you to bring anything that will help your child remain very comfortable during their nap period. We prefer you do not bring toys to the center but we do understand that a very young child may need his or her special belonging. If that case, please send a bag for the child so we may place the item in it to prevent loss. We have many nice new toys and age appropriate activities that will keep your child’s interest.

See you soon!
